The Society was formed soon after Gurdjieff's death according to directions he had previously given to Jeanne de Salzmann. The work of the Society, including the teaching of movements, continues on the lines she established at that time.
The Society is one of the four founder-members of the International Association of Gurdjieff Foundations (www.iagf.org).
